Women’s Basketball falls at Colorado College

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team dropped an 81-58 decision to Colorado College Friday afternoon in Colorado Springs. The loss dropped the Cru to 3-1 on the season while the Tigers improved to 5-1. 

The Tigers opened the game on an 8-2 run and held a substantial lead, going ahead by 11 with 6:36 to play in the first quarter. UMHB cut the lead back to single digits at the 4:51 mark off a pair of foul shots from Josie Bruder. The Tigers responded with a three-pointer before Adyson James hit a pull-up jumper with 4:13 to play to cut the gap back to 10. Colorado College hit back-to-back three points to go up by 20 and closed out the first frame with a 34-17 lead. 

 UMHB continued to fight, pulling within 14 about halfway through the second frame. The game played in the teens until the Tigers went ahead by 20 with 2:11 to play in the half. Josie Bruder hit two free throws with 1:32 to play and Jaycie Brisco added a three-pointer, pulling the Cru within 16. Colorado College responded with a pair of foul shots at the end of the quarter to go into half up 51-33. 

The third quarter saw just 27 points scored with Colorado College out scoring the Cru 15-12 in the frame. The fourth quarter almost mirrored as the Tigers out scored the Cru 15-13, securing the 81-58 win. 

Amillion Fowler led the Cru with 13 points while Remi Adeleke added 11. UMHB shot 36.5 percent in the contest, making four three-pointers. Jaycie Brisco led the Cru with 10 rebounds while Fowler added five assists and Adeleke and Karlee Cronk each had three steals. 

The Cru totaled 26 points in the paint with 15 points off turnovers. UMHB added 15 fast-break points with 21 points from the bench. 

UMHB returns to action on Saturday, November 30th in a 2 p.m. (MT) contest against Nebraska Wesleyan in Colorado Springs.
