Women’s Basketball falls at No. 10 Whitman

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team dropped a 14-point decision to No. 10 Whitman College Thursday evening in Walla Walla. The loss dropped the Cru to 6-2 on the season while Whitman improved to 8-0. 
 
UMHB opened the game with back-to-back layups and maintained the high ground until the 00:32 mark when Briana Andrade evened the contest for Whitman with a free throw. UMHB went back on top with a three-point play from Karlee Cronk, giving the Cru a 15-12 lead after the first frame. 
 
The Blues quickly evened the contest with a three-pointer at the 9:26 mark of the second quarter. The game went into scoreless play until the Blues went ahead with a layup at the 7:35 mark. Whitman extended the lead to five with 6:44 to play and took a double-digit margin with a three-pointer at the 4:15 mark. That score held until the 1:37 mark when the Blues hit another three-pointer for a 29-15 lead. Whitman added two more baskets to the Cru's one, ending the first half with a 33-18 Blues lead. 
 
Whitman maintained a double-digit margin through the third quarter with both teams scoring 13 points in the frame. UMHB fought back in the fourth, cutting the eight with 2:23 to play in the contest. The Blues extended that lead back to doubles with 11 1:36 to play and held on for the 64-50 win. 
 
Jaycie Brisco led the Cru with a double-double on the night, totaling 16 points and 13 rebounds. Brisco added three assists and shot a perfect 4-for-4 from the foul line. Katelen Brooks added 13 points with a pair of three-pointers while Amillion Fowler added 12 points. Adyson James tallied eight rebounds against the Blues with Brooks adding five. 
 
UMHB totaled 28 points in the paint with 11 points off turnovers and 15 fast break points. 
 
The Cru returns to action on Friday, December 13th in a 6 p.m. (PT) contest against Whitworth University in Spokane.
