MARSHALL, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team closed the 2024 season at the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Friday in Marshall. The Cru suffered a 4-2 loss to LeTourneau University to end its 2024 campaign.

UMHB got on the board in the bottom of the first with a Bailey Frenzel RBI double to score Lindsey Polleschultz. The Cru followed that with a three-up, three-down top of the second with Eileigh Whyte in the circle. Bryton Wright added one more for UMHB in the fourth inning with a solo homerun over the center field wall for the 2-0 lead.

The YellowJackets fought back with a duo of homeruns in the fifth and sixth innings for the tie. LeTourneau then took the lead in the top of the seventh on a two-RBI double. UMHB could not overcome the deficit, falling 4-2.

Whyte took the loss for the Cru, pitching all seven frames with four runs on eight hits with two strikeouts. UMHB totaled seven hits, led by Polleschultz with three while Wright added two and an RBI.  

UMHB ends the season at 24-15 overall and 13-8 in American Southwest Conference action.
