SEGUIN, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team fell to Texas Lutheran University 2-1 Sunday night in Seguin. With the loss, the Cru's record moves to 0-1-1, while the Bulldogs improve to a 1-0-1 record.
The Bulldogs jumped to a 1-0 lead with a goal in the final seconds of the first half. Texas Lutheran tacked on one more score in the 65
th minute to raise their lead to 2-0. The Cru responded in the 78
th minute with a goal from
Carter Simpson but it was not enough to catch the Bulldogs.
The Cru totaled eight shots, led by
Carter Simpson with two shots on goal.
Xjavier Martinez also tallied two shots while
Miguel Garza added one shot on goal.
Hayden Owens protected the net with a total of five saves on the night.
The Cru now heads to Northfield, Minnesota to take on St. Olaf College on Thursday, September 5
th at 4:30 PM.
