ROUND ROCK, Texas– The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team edged Concordia University Texas 1-0 Monday evening in Round Rock. The win improved the Cru to 2-0 on the season while the Tornados fell to 1-1.
UMHB outshot the Tornados 9-2 in the first half but was unable to find the net, sending the game into halftime scoreless. The drought held until the 84th minute when
Natalie Mason scored the go-ahead goal for the Cru. The Tornados put up two more shots after that, with
Ainsley Westlake preserving the win with a save in the 87th minute.
Kelsey White led the Cru with four shots while
Jayme Dowell added three. UMHB totaled 13 shots in the contest, putting nine on frame. UMHB's defense limited the Tornados to just three shots on frame as Westlake made three saves in the net.
UMHB returns to action this weekend in a pair of matches in Tennessee. The Cru will face Sewanee on Friday, September 6th at 5 p.m. followed by a 12 p.m. contest against Trine on Sunday, September 8th.
