SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team dropped a two-goal decision to Sewanee Friday evening in Sewanee. The loss dropped the Cru to 2-1-0 while Tigers improved to 2-0-1.
Kylee Monaghan scored a go-ahead goal for the Tigers off a penalty kick in the fifth minute. Brianna Fee added an insurance goal in the 22nd minute, putting Sewanee ahead 2-0 early in the first half.
UMHB totaled four shots in the first half to the Tigers' six. The second half played scoreless with a combined 23 shots from both teams. Ainsley Westlake and Emma Edwards split time in the net for UMHB with each giving up a goal in the contest. Alyssa Andana led the Cru with five shots while three other Crusaders each added two. Andana also had a team-high three shots on frame in 45 minutes of action.
UMHB returns to action on Sunday, September 8th in a noon contest against Trine University. The Cru returns to home play on Saturday, September 21st in a 7 p.m. contest against McMurry University at the Cru Soccer Field in Belton.
