LONGVIEW, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball fell three sets to one in an American Southwest Conference match Saturday at LeTourneau. The Cru's record falls to 16-3 on the season and 2-2 in conference play while the YellowJackets improved to 8-9 with a 1-1 in conference.
The Cru began the match with a first-set victory, 25-19. UMHB jumped to an early 8-2 lead after a six-point run with
Kendall Harrington at the service line. The lead was in the hands of the Cru for the remainder of the set, finishing with a four-point run to close it out. The second set was evenly played until the YellowJackets took command of the game scoring the six consecutive points to win the set 25-19.
LeTourneau had control of the lead toward the end of the third, leading with a four-point differential. The Cru responded with kills from
Cameron Pesek,
Baylee Mobley,
Dravyn Hurd and
Sifa Olang to take the lead at the 25-24 mark and force the set into extra points. The YellowJackets fought back to win the set with a 27-25 victory. The final set of the match was a back-and-forth battle until LeTourneau capitalized with the game tied at 11, shooting ahead 16-11. UMHB was able to cut the difference, but eventually dropped the set 25-21.
Baylee Mobley led the Cru in kills, tallying fourteen.
Cameron Pesek followed with 12 total kills and a .417 attack percentage on the day, with
Dravyn Hurd also adding 10 kills.
Caiden Lasala was the defensive leader for UMHB with 27 digs.
Kendall Harrington put up a double-double with 27 digs and 22 assists.
UMHB returns to action on Friday, October 4
th in Richardson, Texas to take on UT Dallas at 6:00 PM.
