BROWNWOOD, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team earned a one-goal win over Howard Payne University Saturday evening in Brownwood. The win improved the Cru to 11-1-3 on the season and 4-0 in American Southwest Conference action while the Yellow Jackets fall to 1-10-3 overall and 1-3 in league play.
Karsen Macias gave the Cru a lead, scoring on a pass from
Martin Valdes in the fourth minute for a 1-0 UMHB lead.
Davin Khaffaji added an insurance goal for the Cru in the 38
th minute, finding the lower right corner of the goal for a 2-0 UMHB lead.
UMHB outshot the Yellow Jackets 11-2 in the first half, putting seven total shots on frame.
Howard Payne added a goal in the 47
th minute to cut the gap to one. Neither team was able to score again, ending the contest in a 2-1 UMHB win.
Grayson Bowler led the Cru with four shots while Khaffaji added three. UMHB totaled 19 shots in the contest, putting 13 on frame.
Brett LaPorte earned the win in the net, making two saves.
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, October 25
th in a 7:30 p.m. contest against East Texas Baptist University in Belton.
