BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team earned a 5-0 win on senior day in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 11-1-3 on the season and 5-0 in American Southwest Conference action while the Tigers fell to 8-7-1 overall and 1-2-1 in league play.
Karsen Macias scored just 28 seconds into the contest off an assist from
Alex Bethke.
Dylan Vadnais tacked on another goal in the 21
st minute, scoring off a ricocheted shot from
Martin Valdes for a two-goal lead. The Cru added one more goal less than two minutes later when
Grayson Bowler found the lower right side of the goal off an assist from
Zachary Paclibar. UMHB outshot the Tigers 14-3 in the first half, putting seven shots on goal.
Valdes tacked on another goal for the Cru in the 65
th minute off a Bethke assist.
Billy Yonce got in on the scoring action in the 77
th minute, finding the net with an assist from
Logan Thomson. ETBU had a solid opportunity in the final ten minutes of play but the Cru defense held, sealing the 5-0 win.
Yannis Benae and
Martin Valdes led the Cru with four shots each while Valdes put all three on frame. UMHB totaled 26 shots in the contest with 13 on goal. Hughton Taggart made three saves in 70 minutes of goalkeeper action while
Brett LaPorte tallied two saves in relief.
UMHB returns to play on Wednesday, October 29
th in a 6 p.m. contest at Trinity University in San Antonio.
