Women’s Soccer names seven to All-ASC teams; earns five superlatives

BELTON, TexasUniversity of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer named seven athletes to the All-American Southwest Conference teams, released Wednesday. The Cru also won five of the conference's superlative awards.
 
Malyn Martinson was named Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-ASC. Martinson, a senior from Cypress, started in all 20 games for the Cru this season, playing more than 1,600 minutes on the back line. Martinson and the Cru limited opponents to just 19 goals this season. She also added two game-winning goals and one assist. 
 
Gracie Ruthven was named Offensive Freshman of the Year and First Team All-ASC. Ruthven, a freshman Austin, led the conference in shots (59) and shots on goal (35). She scored six goals this season and added two assists.
 
Abigail Hickman was named Co-Midfielder of the Year and First Team All-ASC. Hickman, a senior from Beaumont, played in 18 games for the Cru. She totaled 960 minutes in the midfield, scoring one goal off nine shots on frame. Hickman totaled 22 shots this season.
 
Aubrey Tipton was named Defensive Freshman of the Year and Second Team All-ASC. Tipton earned a 6-4-3 record in the net with seven solo shutouts. She allowed just 10 goals in more than 1,200 minutes of action. Tipton finished her freshman season with 79 total saves.
 
Allie Angell and Audrey Harlien were also First Team All-ASC selections.
 
Allie Angell, a junior defender from Belton, played in 20 games for the Cru this season. She tallied 1,495 minutes on a backline that recorded nine shutouts this year. Angell also added game-winning goals against Howard Payne and East Texas Baptist.
 
Audrey Harlien, a freshman from Crosby, played in 16 games at forward this season. She scored four goals in her first year with the Cru, including game-winners against Southwestern and East Texas Baptist. Harlien totaled 31 shots on the season, putting 20 on frame.
 
Ella Ruff was named Second Team All-ASC. Ruff, a junior from Dripping Springs, put seven of 18 shots on frame, adding one assist on the season. She tallied 1,267 minutes as a midfielder for the Cru, contributing on both sides of the ball.
 
Barry Elkins was named Co-Coach of the Year. Elkins guided the Cru to an 8-6-6 record overall and a 5-1 mark in ASC play. The Cru ranked second in the conference in goals allowed (19), saves (106). 
 
This is the third all-conference award for Martinson, second for Angell and first for Ruthven, Hickman, Tipton, Harlien and Ruff.
