CONWAY, Ark. – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Volleyball earned a 3-0 sweep over Hendrix College Sunday afternoon in Conway. The win improved the Cru to 18-5 while the Warriors also went to 18-5.
UMHB used a 5-0 streak to take a lead on the Warriors in the first set. Hendrix pulled within one before the Cru used a 5-1 run to go back up by five. UMHB saw set-point at 24-18 but the Warriors fought back, pulling within three. UMHB closed the set with a kill from
Raylee Schaffner for a 25-21 first-set win.
The Cru used another 5-0 run in the second set to take a 13-9 lead. Hendrix pulled within one again at 16-15 and eventually tied the set at 17. UMHB went back up with a four-point run and cruised to a 25-20 win from there.
Set three played back-and-forth with neither team leading by more than two until the Cru took a 24-21 margin. The Warriors fought back and pulled within one but a kill from
Baylee Mobley sealed the 25-23 win for the Cru, ending the match in a three-set sweep for the Cru.
Mobley led the Cru with 17 kills, hitting just three errors in 35 attempts for a .400 average. Schaffner and
Natalie Hughes each added 10 kills as UMHB totaled 47 kills on 136 attacks.
Kendall Harrington led the Cru with 30 assists.
Mobley was also the Cru's defensive leader with 21 digs, followed by
Angie Garcia with 17 and Harrington with 12.
UMHB returns to action on Thursday, November 6
th in a 6 p.m. contest at Rhodes College in Memphis.
