Women’s Basketball falls to UW-Whitewater

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team dropped a 66-37 decision to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Wednesday afternoon in Belton. The loss dropped the Cru to 4-8 while the Warhawks improved to 7-1.
 
UW-Whitewater jumped to an early 13-2 lead before Rachel Okoye ended the run with a layup at 3:59. Natalia Galvan followed with a three-pointer to pull the Cru within six but another Warhawk three-pointer extended the UWW lead. Whitewater went into the second frame at an 18-9 advantage.
 
The Warhawks continued to press, extending the lead with 4:09 to play in the second quarter. UWW led by as many as 18 points in the second, taking a 32-15 margin into halftime.
 
UW-Whitewater went up by 20 with 3:09 to go in the third quarter and maintained the high ground, cruising to the 66-37 win.
 
Allie Uzzell led the Cru with 13 points while Mia Lozoya added nine. UMHB totaled 18 points in the paint with 21 points from the bench and 11 second-chance points. Madyson Solis anchored the Cru with 10 rebounds while the Cru also added 15 steals.
 
The Cru also hosted an educational day with more than 1,500 students from seven different elementary schools in attendance. UMHB returns to action on Thursday, December 18th in a 2 p.m. contest against Trinity University at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.
