BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team dropped a Thursday decision to Trinity University Thursday afternoon in Belton. The loss dropped the Cru to 4-9 on the season while the Tigers improved to 3-6.
The first quarter played back-and-forth until Trinity pulled ahead with a 7-0 run.
Madyson Solis cut into that lead with a layup at 2:13 and UMHB pulled within four, ending the frame down 17-13.
Trinity opened the second quarter with a three-pointer and went ahead by seven. The Tigers took a double-digit margin at the 7:06 mark and held that lead through the half, going into halftime up 49-29. The Tigers maintained a double-digit advantage through the remainder of the contest, earning an 89-62 victory.
Natalia Galvan led the Cru with 27 points, going 4-for-4 from beyond the arc with nine total field goals and five free throws. Galvan added five rebounds, five assists and two steals.
Allie Uzzell added 15 points with nine rebounds and two steals, followed by Pierce Sheppler with eight points and
Madyson Solis with seven.
UMHB returns to action on Monday, December 29
th in a 3 p.m. match against Trinity University at the East Texas Baptist University Classic in Marshall.
