BELTON, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team opened the 2025 season with a 1-0 win over Concordia University Texas Friday evening in Belton. The win opened the Cru at 1-0 on the season while the Tornados start at 0-1.
The first half of action played scoreless with UMHB outshooting the Comets 9-5. The Cru put five shots on frame in the first half, each from a different athlete.
Jayme Dowell gave the Cru a lead in the 70
th minute, fighting off a defender in the box to net the first Crusader goal of the season. UMHB outlasted the Tornados the rest of the half to hold the 1-0 win. The Cru totaled 20 shots in the contest, giving up just one to Concordia Texas.

Kendall Hiatt and
Ella Ruff led the Cru with three shots each while four different Crusaders each put two shots on frame.
Emma Edwards earned the win in the goal for UMHB, making one save.
UMHB returns to action on Sunday, August 31
st in an 11:30 a.m. match against University of Puget Sound at the UMHB Soccer Field in Belton.
