BELTON, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team fought rain and wet field conditions Sunday morning in Belton, tying University of Puget Sound 1-1.
Both teams pressed offensively in the first half.
Emma Edwards made a big save in the 28
th minute to preserve the shutout. UMHB answered with three more shots before
Gracie Ruthven scored off an assist from
Leila Cunningham for a 1-0 Cru lead in the 42
nd minute. UMHB outshot the Loggers 7-4 in the first half, putting six total shots on frame.
Puget Sound scored the equalizer in the 67
th minute and that knot held, ending the game in a 1-1tie. UMHB outshot the Loggers 13-9 in the contest, putting 11 shots on frame.
Gracie Ruthven led the Cru with four shots, putting all four on goal while
Trinity Hoffmann added three shots on frame.
Edwards ended the full 90-minute contest with four saves, giving up just one goal.
UMHB returns to action in a pair of matches next weekend in Virginia. The Cru will take on No. 3 Christopher Newport on Friday, September 5
th before an 11 a.m. contest against Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday, September 7
th.
