Men’s Soccer defeats Concordia 3-1

BELTON, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer took down Concordia University Texas in a 3-1 game Thursday night. This win improves the Cru's record to 4-1-2 on the season, while the Tornados fall to 2-1-2.

Karsen Macias opened the match with the first shot of the game, on goal, just 25 seconds in, but was stopped by the Tornados goalkeeper. Concordia responded with two shots later in the half, but both were off target. Peyton Hoyt broke through in the 24th minute with a header goal assisted by Dylan Vadnais. The Cru held the 1-0 lead through the half.

In the second frame, Karsen Macias quickly struck with a 50th minute goal, assisted by Aidan Aguilera-Reeves to extend UMHB's lead to 2-0. After five more Crusader shots on goal, the Tornados responded with a goal off a free kick in the 88th minute to cut the Cru's lead in half. UMHB answered one minute later in a similar situation, with a goal from Martin Valdes to close out the Cru win 3-1.

Karsen Macias led the Cru offensively with five shots, three on goal, and one goal scored. Arnold Perez-Valenzuela followed with three total shots, two on goal, along with Aidan Aguilera-Reeves who also tallied two shots on goal. Hughston Taggart earned the win in the net adding a save.

UMHB returns to action at home on Saturday, September 20th for a 7:30pm Paint it Gold game against McMurry.
