BELTON, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer earned a 3-1 win over McMurry Saturday evening. This win improves the Cru's record to 5-1-2, while the War Hawks fall to 2-4-1 on the season.
Action began in the first half when Karsen Macias took the first shot on goal of the game but was stopped by the War Hawks goal keeper. Aidan Aguilera-Reeves followed with two shots back-to-back, along with a shot on goal from Alex Bethke that was denied before the net. In the 35th minute, freshman Grayson Bowler found the back of the net for his first collegiate goal, off an assist from Davin Khaffaji.
In the second frame, UMHB wasted no time with an Alex Bethke goal in the 47th minute, assisted by Martin Valdes, to give the Cru a 2-0 lead. Billy Yonce later added one of his own in the 74th minute off an assist from Peyton Hoyt. The War Hawks answered, scoring a goal with 11 minutes left in the match to cut into UMHB's lead, closing out the game with a 3-1 Cru win.
Alex Bethke and Grayson Bowler led the Cru with two shots on goal each, along with three more Crusaders tallying one.
UMHB returns to action on the road on Wednesday, September 24th in a 4:00pm matchup against Rhodes College.
