MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer fell to No. 1 ranked Washington University in St. Louis Saturday afternoon. This moves the Cru's record to 1-3-3 on the season, while the Bears improve to 6-1.
The Bears opened action quickly, taking four shots in three minutes, with one on goal, saved by Audrey Tipton. Tipton followed again with another save in the 7th minute. Ella Ruff answered right after with a shot, but was denied by the crossbar. WashU struck first, scoring in the 33rd minute, and then again in the 38th minute to go up 2-0 going into halftime.
The Cru started the second half with shots from Ella Ruff, Abigail Hickman, and Jayme Dowell, before the Bears got on the board again with back-to-back goals in the 61st and 62nd minutes, moving the score to 4-0. WashU made it a 6-0 match with two more goals in the 71st and 89th minutes to close out the game.
Ella Ruff and Jayme Dowell led the Cru with two shots each. Audrey Tipton made eight saves in the net, while Emma Edwards added one.
UMHB returns to action in Memphis on Sunday, September 21st in a 1:30pm matchup against Rhodes College.
