"First of all I want to highlight the electric atmosphere we had tonight," Head Coach Sam Patterson said. "We are extremely appreciative to everyone that came out to support this program. We knew it would be a great game, with both teams playing well and undefeated in conference play. I have a ton of respect for Coach Brackett and Coach Harris. It was a hard-fought game and I am so proud of our guys for staying in the fight and always believing we could win. I thought we had good looks early in the game that we just didn't convert. We turned it over which led to easy buckets in transition. Being able to cut the lead down to single digits going into halftime was big. I challenged our players to come out of halftime and throw the first punch. I thought our guys responded well and we were able to shift some momentum our way in that second half. There's something to say about the belief this locker room has in each other that is truly special. We had several players make big plays for us that were capped with a huge shot by Hudson at the end of regulation. I thought we executed down the stretch and limited our turnovers to give us a chance. We knew it was going to be a very physical game with both teams fighting hard on the glass."

UMHB returns to action at Hardin-Simmons University on Saturday, February 14th at 3 p.m.

"It's important for us to now dominate in our recovery and prepare for a great rematch in a few days. We're excited about our next opportunity on Saturday."
