SPOKANE, Wash. – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Whitman Saturday evening in Spokane.
Eric Ortiz put the Cru on the board early in the first half, scoring in the 13
th minute for a 1-0 UMHB lead. The Blues responded just over a minute later with a goal from Kevin Serrano, knotting the contest at 1-1.
The game remained tied until the 79
th minute when Riki Kobayashi scored the go-ahead, putting Whitman on top. The Blues added one more goal in the 88
th minute to seal the 3-1 victory.
UMHB totaled 17 shots in the contest, putting seven on frame.
Martin Valdes led UMHB with four shots while
Billy Yonce and
Eric Ortiz each added three. The Cru limited the Blues to just six shots on frame as
Hughston Taggart made three saves.
UMHB returns to action on Friday, September 18
th in a 7:30 p.m. contest against Trinity University at the UMHB Soccer Field in Belton.
