BROWNWOOD, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team took a 2-0 win over Howard Payne University in the 2026 American Southwest Conference opener Thursday in Brownwood.
Aubrey Pelczar gave the Cru a lead in the first half, scoring off a pass from
Kendall Hiatt for a 1-0 lead. UMHB outshot the Yellow Jackets 15-1 in the first half, putting 11 shots on frame.
The Cru continued to outshoot HPU in the second half, putting up 10 shots with
Allie Angell scoring an insurance goal for UMHB in the 76
th minute.
Gracie Ruthven and
Trinity Hoffmann led the Cru with five shots each while
Audrey Harlien added four. UMHB put 18 of 25 shots on frame in the game.
Aubrey Tipton earned the win in the net, playing all 90 minutes with one save made.
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, September 26
th in a 5 p.m. contest at Schreiner University in Kerrville.
