MARSHALL, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team tied East Texas Baptist 1-1 Friday night in Marshall after weather delayed the match. The tie moved the Cru to 6-4-2 on the season and 3-2-1 in American Southwest Conference action while the Tigers moved to 2-11-1 on the season and 2-4-1 in league play.
Pablo Jaimes gave ETBU a 1-0 advantage in the 34
th minute, scoring off a header with an assist from Jose Vega. ETBU held that lead until the 64
th minute when
Julio Mar scored the equalizer off an assist from
Luke Lopez for a 1-1 status. Neither team was able to score again, ending the game with a 1-1 tie.
McKenna Cook led the Cru with eight shots while
Ben Hammonds took five and
Case Carnes had four. UMHB outshot the Tigers 36-7 in the match, putting 17 shots on goal.
Javier Zaragoza took the tie in the net, making two saves with one goal allowed while Juan Perales earned the mark on the ETBU side, making 16 saves with one goal allowed.
The Cru continues play on Saturday, October 24
th in a 3 p.m. match at LeTourneau University in Longview. UMHB closes out the regular season next weekend with a home series against the University of Texas at Tyler and University of the Ozarks
