BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team edged University of the Ozarks 1-0 Saturday afternoon in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 7-4-3 on the year with a 4-2-2- mark in American Southwest Conference action while the Eagles fell to 7-6-3 overall and 4-3-1 in league play.
Jorge Marquez gave the Cru a lead in the 27
th minute, scoring off an assist from
Caleb Vandergriff for a 1-0 UMHB advantage. Neither team was able to score again, giving UMHB the one-goal victory.
McKenna Cook led the Cru with five shots while
Colby Case added three and
Daniel Santa had two. UMHB outshot Ozarks 15-3 in the match, putting eight shots on goal. The Cru's
Javier Zaragoza earned the win, making one save in the shutout while Austin Benner took the loss for Ozarks, allowing one goal with seven saves.
