Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team put the game away with two late goals as the Cru topped Howard Payne 3-0 Saturday night in Belton. UMHB improves to 4-3-1 overall and 2-1 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops the Yellow Jackets to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the ASC.

The Cru grabbed an early lead when Ben Hammonds scored off an assist from Luke Lopez in the 12^th minute. UMHB's defense stepped up to hold it that way into the second half. Howard Payne turned up the offensive pressure in the second half, but could not score. Hammonds added some breathing room when he collected a loose ball and drove it into the corner of the net in the 86^th minute to give the Cru a 2-0 lead. Caleb Almanza added an insurance goal off Amani Colbert's assist two minutes later for the final goal.

Javier Zaragoza had five saves to notch the shutout in goal for UMHB. Allan Chehadi had six saves in net for HPU. The Cru outshot the Yellow Jackets 24-17 in the match.
