BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team beat Concordia University Texas 3-0 Saturday evening in Belton, improving the Cru to 7-2-1 on the season and 4-0-0 in league play while the Tornados fell to 4-3-1 overall and 2-2-0 in American Southwest Conference action.
Briana Hester opened scoring for UMHB, scoring over the goalkeeper's head off a free kick for a 1-0 UMHB lead in the 20
th minute. UMHB held that lead until the 40
th minute when
Allison Porter converted a penalty kick for a 2-0 Cru advantage.
Miranda Aleman struck next for UMHB, scoring off a cross from
Chelsea Graham for a 3-0 lead and win.
Nicole Burgett led the Cru with four shots followed by Hester with three. UMHB outshot the Tornados 17-5 with 10 shots on goal.
Courtney Craig earned the win for UMHB in 73 minutes of play.
Cassidi Musser finished the contest with 17 minutes and one save. Shelby Franco took the loss for the Tornados, allowing two goals with one save.
UMHB continues play Friday, October 7
th in a 5 p.m. match against McMurry University at the UMHB Soccer Fields in Belton.
