ABILENE, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team fell 3-0 to the University of Texas at Tyler Friday afternoon in the semifinal round of the 2016 American Southwest Conference Women's Soccer Championship Tournament hosted by Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene. The loss ended UMHB's season at 13-4-2 while the Patriots improved to 13-2-1.
Bailey Wooten scored the game-winner for the Patriots in the 46th minute off an assist from Courtney Hunt. UT Tyler added two more goals, one off a shot deflected off a UMHB defender in the 52nd minute and one from Kaelyn Steitz in the 63rd minute. Kat Parker led UMHB with six shots as the Cru totaled 14 in the match. UMHB put four shots on goal while the Patriots had seven total shots with five on mark. Courtney Craig took the loss for UMHB, allowing three goals with two saves while Emily Hurley earned the win for UT Tyler with a shutout 90 minutes and four saves.
UMHB ended the 2016 season with a 13-4-2 overall record and 9-1-1 mark in conference play. The Cru graduated nine four-year seniors: Miranda Aleman, Charis Brantley, Craig, Briana Hester, Jacy Hunt, Sarah Kopp, Parker, Allison Porter and Jessie Simmonds. The 2016 senior class is the winningest class in program history. UT Tyler will advance to face Hardin-Simmons University in the championship match on Saturday, Nov. 5th at 2 p.m.
