ABILENE, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team fell 2-1 in a double-overtime match against Pacific Lutheran University Saturday afternoon in Abilene. The loss evened the Cru at 1-1 on the season while Lutes improved to 2-0.
Lauren Larson gave the Lutes a 1-0 lead at the half with a 38th minute goal off an assist from Lena Moreno. Amanda Carlough scored the equalizer in the 72nd minute, converting a penalty kick for a 1-1 tie. The tie remained through regulation as UMHB and the Lutes went into overtime periods. Neither team was able to score until the 102nd minute when Leah Magee gave the Lutes the win off an assist from Liz Griffith.
Kat Parker and Sarah Rempe led the Cru with two shots each while Carlough had the Cru's lone goal. UMHB totaled seven shots with five on goal while the Lutes totaled 16 shots with eight on goal. Cassidi Musser took the loss for UMHB, allowing one goal in 56 minutes of play. Courtney Craig also spent time in goal for the Cru, allowing one goal with five saves. Takara Mitsui earned the win for Pacific Lutheran, allowing one goal with four saves in 101 minutes of play.
UMHB returns to action Tuesday, September 6th with a 5 p.m. match against Austin College at the Cru Sports Plex in Belton.
