SHERMAN, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team continued its dominance at the Austin College Invitational, earning two more wins Saturday in Sherman. UMHB improved to 4-0 on the day with wins over Pacific University and University of Dallas.
UMHB swept Pacific University in the first match of the day, going 25-20, 25-22, 25-15 for the three-set victory.
Abby Voskuil led the Cru with 10 kills followed by
Miranda Klein with seven and
Maddie Frerich with six.
Natasha Evans had a match-high 29 assists while Klein and
Jordan Yates each served two aces. Defensively, Yates recorded nine digs while Klein and Voskuil each had seven. Frerich led the defensive efforts at the net with seven blocks followed by Evans with six. UMHB totaled 34 kills on 89 attacks for a .270 hitting percentage while Pacific had 33 kills on 105 attacks for a .057 percentage.
The Cru then swept University of Dallas in straight sets, going 25-19, 25-21, 25-13.
Sydney Stolz led the Cru with 11 kills followed by Voskuil with 10 and Frerich with six. Evans recorded a match-high 32 assists helping the Cru to a .217 hitting percentage. Yates again led the Cru with 15 digs, followed by Voskuil with 13 and
Haleigh Evans with nine. UMHB totaled 40 kills on 106 total attacks while University of Dallas had 24 kills on 115 total attacks.
Natasha Evans was honored as a member of the Austin College All-Tournament Team after averaging 10.5 assists per match in the event. UMHB returns to tournament action next weekend at the Trinity University Invitational. The Cru opens that tournament on Friday, September 9
th in a 1 p.m. match against Pacific Lutheran University.
