BELTON, Texas– The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team earned their spot in the American Southwest Conference Men's Soccer Championship with a 4-0 win over University of the Ozarks Saturday afternoon in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 14-2-1 on the season and advances them to the championship match for the second time in program history. The Eagles ended their season at 9-7-2.
Case Carnes gave the Cru lead in the 15
th minute, scoring off a pass from
Julio Mar. Carnes two-touched the pass into the far left side of the goal for the score. Mar added an insurance goal in the 24
th minute, using one touch off a defender's deflection to find the far right side of the goal for the 2-0 lead.
Seth Neveloff finished off first-half scoring for the Cru, scoring his first collegiate goal off an assist from
Caleb Almanza to give UMHB a 3-0 lead.
Josh Bruton added one more goal for the Cru in the 86
th minute, finalizing the score at 4-0.
Carnes led the Cru with six shots followed by
Julio Mar with three. UMHB totaled 18 shots with 12 shots on goal while the Eagles were limited to 10 shots with four on goal.
Bryce Eichhorn earned the win for the Cru, making four saves in the shoutout win. Logan Valestin took the loss for Ozarks, allowing three goals and making eight saves in 82 minutes of action.
UMHB will face the winner of UT Tyler and UT Dallas in the championship match on Sunday, November 5
th at 1 p.m. in Belton.
