Austin, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team used late-inning heroics to take control of both games as the Cru swept a doubleheader from Concordia Texas Friday evening in Austin. UMHB won 6-2 and 12-5 to improve to 13-9 overall and 8-9 in American Southwest Conference play on the season. The Tornados drop to 13-11 overall and 6-8 in ASC play with the two losses.
UMHB rallied from a pair of deficits to send game one to extra innings before blowing it open in the ninth inning on the way to a 6-2 victory. The Tornados jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Cru tied the game on

Olivia Kaase's three-run double tied the game before Brittani Whitten tripled home the go-ahead run and then scored on a passed ball. Drake singled home Dawson in the top of the seventh to cut it to 5-4 and Tomlinson doubled home a pair of runs to put the Cru back on top 6-5. Kasey Cummings followed with a two-run single and she came around to score on an error to make it 9-5. Walter added a three-run double to provide the final margin for UMHB. Dawson had four hits to lead the Cru offense and Drake and
Karley Free added three hits apiece.
