PINEVILLE, La. – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team closed its three-game series at No. 14 Louisiana College with a 6-1 win over the Wildcats Saturday afternoon in Pineville. The win improved the Cru to 19-12 on the season and 14-10 in American Southwest Conference action while the Wildcats fell to 24-6 overall and 18-3 in league play.
Leah Brown opened the game with a single to left field, scoring
Makenzi Dawson for a 1-0 UMHB lead in the first inning. Louisiana College responded with a single run in the bottom of the first to the contest. Neither team was able to generate another scoring offense until the top of the sixth inning when UMHB scored three runs. Brown again opened scoring, slamming an RBI double to score

Kourtney Cummings. The Cru added two more runs in the seventh with a home run from
Linsey Tomlinson and a
Makenzi Dawson run scored on a wild pitch. Brown led the Cru with two hits and two RBI while Dawson had a team-high two runs.
Karen Tennis earned the win in the circle for UMHB, allowing six hits and one run in a complete seven-inning contest. Savannah Settle took the loss for the Wildcats, surrendering five hits and five runs in six innings of work. UMHB totaled six runs on six hits with no errors while Louisiana College had one run on six hits with four errors.
The Cru then returns to Belton for a three-game series with Sul Ross State University. That series will open with a 3 p.m. doubleheader on Friday, April 7
th and conclude with a noon single game on Saturday, April 8
th.
