TYLER, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team dropped a 3-1 match to No. 17 UT Tyler Saturday evening in Tyler. The Patriots improved to 18-1 with the win while the Cru fell to 17-2.
UT Tyler took an early lead with 25-20, 26-24 wins before the Cru took a set off the Patriots with a 26-24 third set. UT Tyler sealed the match with a 25-23 fourth set.
Jenna Gillean led the Cru with 15 kills while
Sarah Paolini added 12 and
Corinne Novak added nine. UMHB hit .232 in the match, slamming 55 kills on 164 total attacks.
Cory Jo Martin led the Cru with 35 assists while
Miranda Klein added 16. Defensively,
Haleigh Evans was the leader with 21 kills while Klein, Martin and Gillean each added 14.
Sarah Paolini was the leader at the net, going up for seven blocks en route to a team-total 10.
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, October 13
th in a 12 p.m. match against East Texas Baptist University and a 4 p.m. match against LeTourneau University. Both matches will be played at the University of Texas at Tyler.
