ABILENE, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball teams earned a 3-1 road win over Hardin-Simmons University Tuesday evening in Abilene. The win improved the Cru to 14-1 on the season and 9-0 in American Southwest Conference action, while the Cowgirls fell to 11-7 overall and 3-5 in league play.
Hardin-Simmons opened with a 25-22 win over the Cru before UMHB took charge, taking consecutive 25-23, 25-17, 25-13 wins to seal the 3-1 match.
Corinne Novak led the Cru with 15 kills while
Jenna Gillean added 13. UMHB hit .348 in the match, slamming 49 total kills.
Cory Jo Martin led UMHB with 35 assists while
Miranda Klein added 11. Klein was the defensive leader for UMHB, recording 19 digs and adding four blocks. Gillean and
Haleigh Evans recorded 14 digs and 12 digs respectively while
Sarah Paolini led defensive efforts at the net with six blocks. UMHB totaled 49 assists, 67 digs, nine service aces and 11 team blocks.
UMHB returns to action on Friday, October 5
th in a 6 p.m. match against Concordia University Texas at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.
