BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team routed McMurry University 5-1 Thursday evening in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 10-3 on the season and 8-0 in American Southwest Conference action while the War Hawks dropped to 4-11 overall and 2-6 in league play.
Ethan Dacaret put the Cru ahead in the 16
th minute, scoring an unassisted goal for a 1-0 advantage. Dacaret followed that assisting a goal by
Ethan Buchanan in the 25
th minute before scoring again at the 25:58 mark. UMHB put six of 12 shots on frame and limited the War Hawks to just two total shots in the half.
UMHB continued a scoring offense in the second half, netting two goals.
Seth Neveloff opened the second half scoring on an assist from
Nick Villanueva. McMurry responded with a goal in the 58
th minute before
Sam Wooding headed in a score off a corner kick from
Harper Roland for a 5-1 UMHB lead.
The Cru totaled 16 shots in the match, led by
Seth Neveloff and
Ethan Dacaret with four each. UMHB put eight of 16 on frame and allowed the War Hawks just four on-frame shots in the match.
Dalton Lloyd played 70 minutes in goal for the Cru, making three saves with one goal allowed.
Jaden Rye played 20 minutes in relief.
