BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin Baylor men's soccer team pitched a shutout Saturday evening against Hardin-Simmons, earning a 3-0 win over the Cowboys. UMHB improved to 11-3 on the season and 9-0 in American Southwest Conference action while the Cowboys fell to 6-6-2 overall and 5-2-2 in league play.
Patrick Roach gave UMHB a lead in the 19
th minute of action, scoring an unassisted goal for a 1-0 Cru lead.
Ethan Dacaret added another score two minutes later, heading in a throw-in from
Nick Villanueva. UMHB held that advantage until the 35:19 mark when Roach headed in another goal with an assist from
Sam Wooding. UMHB outshot the Cowboys 8-5 in the first half with goalkeeper
Dalton Lloyd making two saves for the Cru.
The Cowboys outshot the Cru 4-2 in the second half but UMHB's defense held, preserving the 3-0 win.
Ethan Dacaret led UMHB with four shots while Roach and
Ethan Buchanan each added two. Lloyd earned the win in goal, making three saves in the shutout.
The Cru returns to action on Friday, October 29
th in a 7:30 p.m. match against Concordia University Texas at the UMHB Soccer Field in Belton. The win also guaranteed the Cru rights to host the 2021 American Southwest Conference Men's Soccer Championship Tournament. The Cru will host a quarterfinal match on Tuesday, November 2
nd with the semifinal and final rounds November 5
th and November 7
th.
