BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin Baylor volleyball team earned a 3-0 win over LeTourneau University Saturday afternoon in Belton. UMHB improved to 22-1 overall and 16-1 in league play while the YellowJackets fell to 13-9 overall and 8-7 in American Southwest Conference action.
UMHB used an 11-1 run to pull away in the first set, claiming a 25-14 first-set win. The Cru took an early lead to start the second set and held on with 13 team kills, cruising to a 25-14 second-set win. The YellowJackets fought back in the third set to keep the game close, but three late kills by
Hannah Frasca and
Lauren Williams claimed the match with a 25-23 win in the third.
Hannah Frasca led the Cru with 12 kills, while
Kayla Janikula added 10 and
Kylie Metcalf had eight. UMHB totaled 39 kills on 89 attacks with 28 assists from
Alli Pierce. Defensively,
Maddie Gillispie led with nine digs followed by
Hannah Frasca with eight. UMHB limited the YellowJackets to a .125 percentage in the match with just 33 kills.
The Cru returns to action on Friday, October 29
th in a 6 p.m. match at Concordia University Texas in Austin. UMHB also earned the right to host the 2021 American Southwest Conference Volleyball Championship Tournament November 4th - 6th at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.
