LONGVIEW, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team swept LeTourneau University Saturday afternoon in Longview. The Cru improved to a 16-7 overall record and 9-5 in American Southwest Conference action while the loss dropped the YellowJackets to 14-9 on the season and 7-6 in league play.
The Cru opened the match with a 12-2 and cruised to a first-set 25-13 victory. The second set proceeded in even play until the Cru used a seven-point to take a 17-9 advantage. The Cru used a final 4-1 run to secure the 25-22 win. The YellowJackets fought back in the third using a 7-1 run to take a 18-16 lead. The Cru later responded with a 7-2 run to claim the match with a 26-24 third set victory.
UMHB totaled 53 kills, led by
Hannah Frasca with 16. The Cru offense was anchored by
Ella Brunson with 42 assists.
Alyssa Christiansen led UMHB with 19 digs while Frasca added 15.
UMHB returns to action Thursday, October 27
th in a 6:00 p.m. match against Concordia Texas in Austin.
