ATLANTA, Ga. - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team rolled past University of Lynchburg 75-53 Sunday afternoon in Atlanta. The win opens the Cru at 2-0 on the season while the Hornets fell to 1-4.
UMHB jumped to an early 9-2 lead in the first quarter with
Ashley Faux scoring four points in the run. The Hornets pulled within four but back-to-back buckets from
Weade Adeleke gave the Cru an eight-point lead. The Cru led by as many as 16 points in the quarter, closing the first frame with a 24-13 lead.
The Cru held a double-digit advantage on Lynchburg through the second quarter, going into halftime with a 24-point lead. UMHB held the Hornets to just six points in the second quarter with just two field goals made.
The Hornets came out of halftime with a vengeance, outscoring UMHB 16-12 in the third frame. Lynchburg made five field goals in the quarter and went 7-for-7 in foul shots for the total.
UMHB responded with a 20-point fourth quarter to put away the Hornets 75-53. The Cru shot 38.89 in that quarter with seven field goals and one three-pointer.
Arieona Rosborough led the Cru with 15 points, followed by Payton Hicks and Jaycie Brisco with 12 each.
Ashley Faux and Addy Self each recorded a team-high seven rebounds while Rosborough also led the Cru with three assists.
UMHB totaled 28 points off turnovers with 16 second-chance points. The Crusader bench added 28 points in the contest while UMHB totaled 36 points in the paint.
UMHB returns to action on Wednesday, November 30
th in a 6 p.m. contest at Schreiner University in Kerrville.
