AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team earned a 6-0 win over LeTourneau University in the 2022 American Southwest Conference Men's Soccer Championship Tournament to earn the program's third conference title.
Nick Villanueva gave the Cru an early lead, scoring off an assist from
Sawyer Young to put the Cru up by one in the sixth minute. UMHB held that lead through the first half, out-shooting the YellowJackets 14-6 in the period.
UMHB's offense exploded in the final 20 minutes of action, scoring five unanswered goals.
Patrick Roach opened scoring in the 71
st minute off an assist from
Ethan Dacaret before
Alex Bethke converted a penalty kick in the 76
th minute for a 3-0 lead. Roach added another score in the 85
th minute, followed by a
Karsen Macias goal in the 88
th minute.
Nick Villanueva ended the game the way he started it, scoring his second goal of the day in the 90
th minute for the 6-0 win.
UMHB totaled 27 shots in the contest, putting 19 on frame. Roach led the Cru with five shots, followed by Villanueva and
Francisco Maldonado with four each. Young, Villanueva, Dacaret and Roach also added assists for the Cru.
Dalton Lloyd earned the 90-minute shutout for UMHB, making one save in the contest as the Cru limited the YellowJackets to just two shots on frame.

Patrick Roach earned Most Outstanding Player.
The conference championship was the first under first-year head coach
Ben Allen. Allen and the men's soccer team compiled a 13-2-2 record this season with a 7-1-1 record in ASC play. The Cru advances to the NCAA Men's Soccer Division III National Championship Tournament. That bracket will be announced on Monday, November 7
