BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team beat Our Lady of the Lake University 3-2 Saturday evening in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 2-1 on the season while the Saints fell to 0-2-1.
Daniel Lyon gave the Cru a lead in the 21
st minute, scoring on an assist from
Sawyer Young and
Ben Platt.
Alex Bethke put the Cru up by two less than three minutes later with another Cru score. UMHB held that lead until the 64
th minute when Lyon scored his second goal of the contest. The Saints added late goals in the 77
th and 80
th minutes but UMHB's defense held on, securing the 3-2 Cru victory.
Lyon led the Cru with five shots while Bethke and
Nicholas Arellano each added three. UMHB outshot the Saints 18-10 in the match, putting eight shots on goal and limiting the Saints to four. UMHB recorded two total saves with
Dalton Lloyd earning the win in the net. Lloyd played the full contest with two goals allowed.
UMHB returns to action on Monday, September 12
th in a 7 p.m. contest at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin.
