AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team fell to Concordia University Texas 3-1 Friday evening in Austin. The Cru moved to 9-5 on the season and 2-4 in league play. The Tornados improved to 6-5 overall and 2-3 in American Southwest Conference action.
The Cru took the first large lead of the match with a 10-2 run to go up 19-11 in first set. The Tornados used a late run bring the set within two, but UMHB held on to take the 1-0 advantage. Second-set action saw nine lead changes before the Tornados used a 25-23 win to knot-up the contest. Concordia Texas used a seven-point run to take an early lead then cruise to a third set victory. The Cru fought back in the fourth, but fell short, dropping the decision 3-1.
Hannah Frasca and
Katie Warden led UMHB in kills with 12 each while
Kaylie Vasil added 10. The Cru's offense was anchored by
Ella Brunson with 34 assists. Defensively,
Maddie Gillispie led with 31 digs while
Dravyn Hurd totaled four blocks.
UMHB returns to action Wednesday, September 28
th in a 6:00 P.M. match against Texas Lutheran University in Seguin.
