GEORGETOWN, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team edged Southwestern University 2-1 Sunday evening in Georgetown. The Cru improved to 4-1-1 on the season while the Pirates fell to 2-3-2 overall.
The Pirates claimed the only score of the first half with a goal by Greyson Pinto in the 37
th minute. UMHB scored the equalizer on a penalty kick goal by
Patrick Roach in the 58
th minute.
Nick Villanueva recorded the game-winning goal for the Cru off an assist from
Sawyer Young in the 65
th minute. UMHB's backline shutout the Pirates in the second half to secure the 2-1 victory.
UMHB totaled 16 shots, led by Roach with four while five other Crusaders added two each. Cru goalkeeper,
Dalton Lloyd, recorded four saves.
The Cru returns to action Thursday, September 29
th in a 7:30 P.M. contest against LeTourneau University in Longview.
