Women’s Basketball claims road win over Ozarks

CLARKSVILLE, Arkansas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team claimed a 20-point win over University of the Ozarks Thursday evening in Clarksville. The Cru improved to 10-3 overall and 5-1 in American Southwest Conference play while the Eagles fell to 5-8 on the season and 2-4 in league play.
 
The Eagles jumped to an early 7-0 lead before UMHB bounced back with a Lauren Baker three-pointer to knot-it up 8-8. Back-to-back baskets behind the arc by Kenna Gibson sparked an 11-4 run by the Cru to take their first lead and end the first quarter ahead 23-22. UMHB opened the second quarter with four points by Arieona Rosborough to bring their advantage to five. Action continued in close play, but the Cru held the high ground going into the half up 42-38.
 
UMHB opened the second half on a 15-2 run to establish a double-digit advantage at the 5:02 mark. The Cru added on three more point in the final minutes to close out third quarter play with a 60-47 lead. UMHB used a six-point run before they secured the road win with five made foul shots. The Cru held the Eagles to just nine fourth quarter points to cruise to the 76-56 victory.
 
Gibson lead the Cru with 14 points while Rosborough added 12 and Lauren Baker tacked on 11. UMHB recorded 36 points in the paint and 25 fast break points. Ashley Faux led the Cru with 10 points followed by Weade Adeleke with eight. UMHB caused 18 turnovers for the Eagles including 11 steals, led by Rosborough with four.  
 
UMHB returns to action Saturday, January 7th in a 1:00 p.m. contest against UT Dallas in Richardson.
