BELTON, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team defeated UT Dallas 2-0 Saturday night in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 7-3-2 overall and 5-0 in American Southwest Conference action while the Comets fell to 6-5-2 overall and 2-2 in league play.
Sawyer Young scored the go-ahead goal for the Cru in the 21
st minute, netting a corner kick for the score. UMHB held that lead until the 37
th minute when
Ethan Dacaret scored off an assist from
Ethan Buchanan for a two-goal margin.
UMHB totaled 18 shots in the contest, putting nine on frame.
Karsen Macias led the Cru with five shots, followed by
Ethan Dacaret with three. UMHB's defense limited the Comets to just six total shots with only two on frame.
Hayden Owens earned the win in goal for the Cru, making two saves in the shutout.
UMHB returns to action in a pair of matches next week in Abilene. The Cru will face Hardin-Simmons University on Thursday, October 19
th before taking on McMurry University on Saturday, October 21
st.
