HOUSTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Baseball team defeated University of St. Thomas (TX) Tuesday evening in Houston.
UMHB jumped to an early lead with a three-run first inning. The Cru started scoring with an RBI single from
Hunter Jones to bring
Tyler Betts home. In the next at-bat
Robert McCall singled to left field to score
Drake Herrera. Later in that same inning, McCall extended UMHB's lead to 3-0, scoring on a wild pitch.
The Cru recorded three perfect innings before the Celts added a run on an RBI single to right field in the bottom of the sixth inning. UMHB tacked on another insurance run in the next frame when
Tyler Martin scored on an error. The Cru got on the board again in the eighth inning with a score from
Hayden Guerin on a single to right field from
Rhett Grosz. UMHB added one final run in the top of the ninth when Betts scored on an RBI from Jones to secure the 6-1 road win.
Andrew Acierni started on the mound for UMHB, pitching a hitless inning and claiming the win (1-0).

Nicklas Fenner and
Alex Palczewski all made mound appearances for the Cru, pitching two innings each. The UMHB pitching staff recorded a game total 10 strikeouts, led by McGlumphy with five. The Cru outhit the Celts 10-5, with four players each claiming two hits.

th in a three-game series against McMurry University in Abilene.
