BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team defeated Austin College 4-1 Thursday evening in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 2-2-1 on the season while the Kangaroos fell to 3-2 overall.
The contest played scoreless until the 32
nd minute when Alejandro Beracochea scored for the Kangaroos. Six minutes later, the Cru knotted up the game with a header from
Mason Munoz on an assist from
Ethan Buchanan. UMHB outshot Austin College 10-3 in first half action with four shots on goal.
Alex Bethke scored the game-winner for UMHB in the 62
nd minute off a ricochet. The Cru tacked on two more insurance goals with a header from
Xjavier Martinez in the 83
rd minute followed by an
Ethan Dacaret score on an assist from Bethke at the 88
th minute mark.
UMHB totaled 25 shots with 10 on frame, led by Dacaret and Martinez with six shots each.
Hayden Owens played all 90 minutes in the net, recording three saves.
The Cru return to action on Friday, September 22
nd in a 7:00 p.m. contest against Trinity University (Texas) in San Antonio.
