AUSTIN, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team run ruled Concordia University Texas 8-0 to close regular season action Saturday afternoon in Austin. The Cru improved to 24-13 on the season and 15-9 in American Southwest Conference action while the Tornados fell to 22-17 overall and 14-13 in conference play.

UMHB got on the board in the first frame with an RBI single from Bryton Wright up the middle to drive in Lindsey Polleschultz. The Cru continued scoring with an explosive second inning, adding five runs. Shorey Nguyen got in scoring position with a steal to second before being driven in by an Allyse Castillo RBI single up the middle. Bailey Eggleston followed that with a triple to right center to score Castillo. Eggleston then was driven in on a Polleschultz single to the shortstop to go ahead 6-0. Tori Skinner added the final two runs for UMHB in the fifth with a double to left center to score Madeline Stephenson and Kaitlin Powers, securing the 8-0 win.

The UMHB defense did not allow a runner on base until the bottom of the fourth inning. Eileigh Whyte (16-6) earned the win for the Cru, pitching all five innings, facing 17 batters with just one hit allowed in the final frame. UMHB recorded eight hits, led by Wright with three. Lindsey Polleschultz led the Cru in stolen bases with two, putting her in the lead for the UMHB record for stolen bases in a season record with 25 this season.  

UMHB returns to action at the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament May 9^th-11^th in Marshall.
