ROUND ROCK, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team fought back to earn a 1-1 draw against Concordia University Texas Friday evening in Round Rock.
The first half of action played scoreless with neither team able to find the net. UMHB totaled three shots in the half with Concordia Texas putting up seven.
Second-half action followed suit until the 81
st minute when Devin Hammel scored off an assist from Gustavo Hernandez to give the Tornados a 1-0 lead.
Alex Bethke delivered on the Cru's next shot, scoring the equalizer off a double-assist from
Carter Simpson and
Karsen Macias. Neither team was able to get another shot on frame, ending the contest in a 1-1 tie.
Bethke led the Cru with five shots while Karsan Macias and
Xjavier Martinez each added two. UMHB put six of 12 shots on frame with Bethke leading the way at four.
Hayden Owens played all 90 minutes in goal for the Cru, making six saves with just one goal allowed.
UMHB returns to action on Sunday, September 1
st in a 7:30 p.m. contest at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin.
