BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's basketball team earned a 20+ point win over LeTourneau University Saturday afternoon in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 12-5 on the season and 1-1 in American Southwest Conference action while the YellowJackets fell to 14-5 overall and 1-2 in league play.
 
LeTourneau opened the game with a three-pointer and led until the 16:21 mark when 
Eli Beard made a jumper for an eight-point knot. Beard hit the ensuing foul shot for a 9-8 UMHB lead, quickly followed by a steal and layup from 
Josh Goings for an 11-8 margin. LeTourneau answered with a dunk at 15:30 before the Cru embarked on a 13-0 run, led by Beard with seven points.
 
The YellowJackets ended their drought with a jumper at 11:30 and pulled within five off a three-pointer from Cooper Smith and cut it down to one possession with a jumper from Deonte Jackson. The game toggled between two and five points until a three-pointer from 
Jerry Day, Jr. at 00:23 put the Cru up by seven. The YellowJackets ended the half with a three-pointer and ensuing foul shot, ending the first half with a 40-37 Cru margin.
 
Eli Beard led the Cru with 17 points in the first half while 
Jerry Day, Jr. added seven and 
Josh Goings added six. UMHB shot 53.3 percent in the half, making 16 field goals.
 
UMHB held the high ground early in the second half, leading by as many as eight points before the YellowJackets cut the gap to four. The Cru stayed on top, taking double-digit leads at 13:45, 12:05 and 11:07. An alley-oop from

Josh Goings at 10:18 sparked an 11-point run that put the Cru ahead 77-56 with 7:14 to play.
 
The Cru took a 20-point lead at the 6:52 mark and cruised to a 94-71 win from there. 
Eli Beard led the Cru with 34 points in the contest while 
Josh Goings added 21. 
Maurice Pinnock added 14 points in the win while the Cru shot 56.3 percent in the contest. 
Ryan Pondant was the Cru's leading rebounder with nine, followed by 
Donta Coady with seven. 
Eli Beard led the Cru with five assists while 
Co Rose added three steals.
 
UMHB led for 36:42 of the contest, scoring 50 points in the paint and 26 points off the bench.  
 
UMHB returns to action on Thursday, January 30
th in a 7:30 p.m. contest at Howard Payne University in Brownwood.
