MARSHALL, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team earned a one-goal win over East Texas Baptist University Saturday in Marshall.
UMHB outshot the Tigers 3-2 in the first half with two on frame but was unable to score. The Cru came out strong in the second half, outshooting the Tigers 7-0. UMHB put two shots on goal in the first 20 minutes and continued to press.
Malyn Martinson scored the game-winner in the 84
th minute, one-touching a corner kick from
Jayme Dowell for the goal.
Gracie Ruthven led the Cru with five shots, putting all five on frame while Dowell added two shots. UMHB totaled 10 shots to the Tigers' two, putting eight shots on frame to ETBU's one.
Aubrey Tipton made the Cru's lone save in the full 90-minute contest.
UMHB improved to 3-4-4 on the season and 2-0 in American Southwest Conference action while the Tigers fell to 4-3-3 overall and 0-2 in league play. The Cru returns to action on Wednesday, October 8
th in a 7 p.m. contest at Southwestern University in Georgetown.
